Visiting their orthodontist can often be a scary time for many. Usually people visit for cosmetic dentistry issues. It is often the case where unlike visiting the doctor we are aware of a specific problem, we can be made aware of an issue within our mouths which we did not know about. What problems can come from not getting needed orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic surgery is usually suggested to teenagers when their teeth are still growing and forming within the mouth. If the patient has a very noticeable issue, not having a procedure will cause the problem to worsen which can lead to uneven, wonky teeth, issues eating food and problems speaking-all of which can damage their confidence and leaving them depressed in some cases. Health problems can also arise, for example of the patient cannot chew food properly, it will be much harder to digest. This can then cause stomach problems to the individual which can affect them for their whole life. For this reason, it is best to listen to the advice of your orthodontist.

What can I expect during my orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment is primarily performed as a means to correct the patients bite and help eliminate any future problems with the teeth. The patient will require numerous appointments with the orthodontist so the procedure is performed correctly and effectively. Curing the procedure, braces will be installed into the mouth which the patient will have to wear for a considerable amount of time dependent on the severity of their condition. You will then be provided with oral hygiene advice to help keep your teeth clean whilst wearing the braces.
